XTAL Question of SN65HVD62

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD62

Hi~

Our Customer will SN65HVD62(4EA)/System.

So, Our customer have question as below :

When use 4EA SN65HVD62 in system,  Implemented in one of Crystal(8.704MHz) possible?

When use 4EA SN65HVD62 in system, You can use the Crystal Solution, please recommend.

  • Hi Jayden,

Is the question whether one 8.704MHz crystal can drive 4 SN65HVD62 devices? If so, that is what the SYNCOUT pin is for. You have one 8.704MHz crystal connected to XTAL1 and XTAL2 of the 'master' device, and then take the output from SYNCOUT and feed it to the rest of the 'slave' devices. The SYNCOUT pin is open-drain, so a pull-up resistor to Vcc is needed. On the 'slave' devices, XTAL1 would come from SYNCOUT of the 'master' device and XTAL2 would be connected to ground.

Does this answer the question? Please let me know if you have any more.

    Thanks,
    Jason Blackman

  • Hi~ Jason

    Thank you for your answer.

Our customer will design as below concept.

    - Master device : use 8.704MHz(Crystal), Pull-up to Sync out pin.

    - Slave device : Connect to master Sync out pin in X1. Connect to GND for X2

~ Slave device is 3EA. Can we connect as daisy-chain for Sync out signal?

If can we daisy-chain,  How long avialable PCB Line length(MAX)?

Do you have PCB design Guide?

    Please check attached ppt file....

  • Hi Jayden,

The block diagram looks good. For a pull-up resistor, 1kohm is what we use for our testing.

I will have to confirm with someone about the max PCB length between devices. I will let you know.

    Thanks,
