DP83640 PTP clock and triggers in slave mode with no active link or ptp master in LAN

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83640

Greetings. I have a question regarding this article: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snoa548a/snoa548a.pdf

It is done in master mode. But can I use DP83640 PTP clock and event-trigger engine in slave mode not being connected to Ethernet or with Ethernet connection but with apsent of master in a subnet (in another words: can DP83640 internal time and event-trigger engine run independently of ieee1588 activity in slave mode)?

Best regards, Konstantin.
