Queries on Ethernet devices

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83620, XIO3130

Hi,

We need couple of clarifications on Ethernet devices:

1. We are looking for an 100BaseFX PHY for industrial use and which is also cost competitive. We have identified TI device DP83620. Please let us know if this is recommended by TI for new designs and also longevity that TI can commit on this.

2. Need similar inputs on 4 port PCIe switch device XIO3130.

Thanks and regards,

Rajesh Kumar

  • Rajesh,

The DP83620 is a 100Base-FX PHY that is rated for industrial use and is recommended for new designs.

Regarding longevity, I am not aware of any plans to obsolete the DP83620 at this time.  If you would like more information, the TI policy on End of Life notifications is well defined and documented.  For details, you can refer to the TI website:

    http://focus.ti.com/quality/docs/gencontent.tsp?templateId=5909&navigationId=12841&contentId=52804

The specific section of interest is section 5.0.

I am afraid I cannot comment on the XIO3130 as I am not familiar with that device.  I would suggest that you post that portion of your question to the Consumer & Computing Forum (http://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/digital_interface/f/130.aspx).
