DS92LV2421-22 SerDes

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS92LV2421

Hi all,

We used DS92LV2421-22 ser-des pair for transmitting our camera signals to process over 2 metre cable. For long 2 metre, I am using HDMI cable and it works with no problem.

But for interjunction, (transmitting LVDS signals from one board to another very near to each other by approximately 10 cm,  we used 4 pin USB cable with custom connector.

We faced severe problem with this 4 pin USB cable.

Is there anything can be configured in IC for better transmission.

  • Hi Karthik,

Thanks for your post, and my apologies for the delayed response.

The issue you are seeing in the DS92LV2421/22 SerDes may result from a few possibilities:

    1. The equalizer gain on the deserializer is too high, thereby overequalizing data on short cable lengths. What are your equalizer settings on the deserializer?

    2. The transmitter providing the parallel data to the serializer has programmed pre-emphasis or too much gain for the USB cable length. Try reducing the amount of signal pre-conditioning before sending data through the serializer.

    3. If you are transmitting data at a line rate of a few hundred Mbps (< 700 Mbps) data transmission range, there may potentially be ringing on bit transitions. Placing a small capacitor (e.g. 2pF) between the IN+/- inputs will help stabilize the signal. However, doing this is not recommended for higher line rates ( > 1Gbps) due to a potential reduction in overall signal integrity.
