TLK105 the register setting in case of the compliance test

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK105

Hello,

I want to do a compliance test in TLK105.

Please tell me the register setting in case of the compliance test in 100M/Full.

I test with measuring equipment without LinkPartner.

I did not go well in MII Isolate Mode (page 11 of the data sheet).

Regards,

Daisuke

  • Daisuke,

Specifically which compliance tests are you trying to run?  What test equipment are you using to test compliance?

Often the manual or user guide for the specific test equipment will provide details on the necessary configuration.  It will be important to follow the specific instructions for your equipment.

I do not understand the comment on MII Isolate mode.  Were you unable to configure the device for MII Isolate mode or were you unable to run compliance tests while the device was configured for MII Isolate mode?

  • Hello Patrick,

    Thank you for a reply.

I am using Agilent Oscilloscope in automatic test mode "Ethernet compliance test" without LinkPartner.

The reason that I set MII Isolate Mode is I want idle output.

Idle output enables "Ethernet compliance test".

But, idle output does not appear continuously. Idle output appears intermittently.

Is there the recommended register setting of "Ethernet compliance test"?

    Best regards,

    Daisuke

  • Hello,

The TLK105 needs to have the Auto-MDIX feature disabled for this test to run properly.

Without a link partner connected, the device will transmit scrambled idles first on the TX pairs

then it will change to the RX pair searching for a link partner. In register 19h write bits 15 and 14

to a value of 0. This will disable the Auto-MDIX feature.

In order to insure that the device is set to 100MB Full Duple mode, the BMCR Register (0h) should

    be set to 2100h.

    Thanks,

    John
