TUSB3410

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB3410, MSP430F1612

Hello ....

For some time now I have problemswith the TUSB3410. I have read many references about PID, ID and so on. I have read how program the EEPROM but I have not found a EEPROM burner for my Windows 7. Also if I connect the TUSB3410 at USB at my host no Driver installation appears at Windows.

No one can tell me if I must first have a connection via USB and install a driver when I want to program the EEPROM.

I will test the connection with the newest USB driver and I will download a TUSB3410 driver via the link:

An object code version of the Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 Virtual COM Port (VCP) Software (Drivers and Firmware) can be downloaded from the TUSBWINVCP Tool Folder.

a window opens:

sorry! we couldn't find the page.

best regards Juergen Rieger

  • Hi Juergen,

Unfortunately the only way to program the TUSB3410's EEPROM is via the EEPROM burner tool available at TI's website, however it only works on Windows XP, so you will need to install it on a Windows XP system in order to be able to use it. We are working on a new EEPROM burner utility which will work in Windows Vista, 7 and 8. As soon as the tool is finished we will post it on the TI's website.

Also, there's a driver at the TUSB3410's website 'TI WDF USBUART Single Driver (Rev. A) ' (http://www.ti.com/litv/zip/sllc428a) which you can install in your Windows 7 system. Without the need of an EEPROM, it will automatically load firmware to the TUSB3410 of a 'Virtual COM Port (VCP)' application (however you won't be able to change the VID/PID of the device).

Could you please explain your TUSB3410 application?

    Best Regards,

    Alexis Cortes.

  • Hi Alexis,

my many thanks for your information.
I have made a PCB from USB Evolution-Kit described in TI Application Report SLAA276A. On the Board is equipped an EEPROM and a MSP430F1612. If I connect the Board to my PC, no request appears to install a USB-Driver. So I can't program a Header-File to the EEPROM. I think I must have a connection (with a TUSB3410 driver) via USB to the TUSB3410 and then I can download the Header-File to the EEPROM. Is that correct?

  • Hi Juergen,

Yes, there should be a USB connection between the programming system (in this case your PC) and the TUSB3410 board. The firmware/header files is sent from the programming PC to the EEPROM via USB.

The 'header generator utility' only generates the headers to be programmed to the EEPROM, you will have to use the EEPROM burner Utility to actually program the EEPROM (the EEPROM burner utility will install the necessary USB driver for being able to send the firmware to the TUSB3410's EEPROM).

  • Hi Alexis,

thank you very mutch for yor answer.

so I have to look at why I did not connect to my PC. Is it a hardware problem, or is it a Software problem? How can I test this?
    Best regards Jürgen Rieger
  • Hi Jurgen,

In order to be able to test this I highly recommend to read the documents available at the Application Notes section of the TUSB3410 website at ti.com. (http://www.ti.com/product/tusb3410).

    Best Regards,
    Alexis Cortes.
