looking for RS-485?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD11

Hi

I'd like to use TI 's RS-485 instead of EXAR's SP3494EN-L/TR(RS-485 Transceiver/3.3V NSOIC8) which is current using device..

I've found two devices to replace that is SN65HVD11DR or SN65HVD3088EDR.

Please recommend what is the best solution in TI?

Thanks..

  • Hi Eric,

A bit more information about your RS-485 network would be useful in determining the appropriate transceiver to use.  Specifications such as bus length, number of nodes, and data rate would be useful in narrowing down the possibilities.  Do you strictly require 3.3V operation?

Is there a specific function or feature which you require that the Exar device does not satisfy?

There are a few devices that are similar to the Exar device you mention (3.3V, SOIC, ~2.5Mbps).  The SN65HVD11 is a fine choice, as you suggested.  For higher fault protection, consider the SN65HVD178x family of devices, or for additional ESD protection, the SN65HVD7x family supports a variety of data rates.
