Elivas-san,
Thank you for your shuttle feedback.
I suspect that TFP501 is used with Serial ROM which contains the HDCP key infromation.
It is correnct?
If so, does TI program the ROM and ship to customer with TFP501?
Mita
Mita-san, You are correct. The TFP501 interfaces via I2C with a EPROM, the customer would purchase HDCP keys from the Digital Content Protection organization (www.digital-cp.com) and then program those keys to the EPROM. Each EPROM will be programmed with a unique key, during the initial power on sequence, the TFP501 will read the raw keys from the EPROM, encrypt the keys and then write back the encrypted key to the EPROM.
Undrea-san,
Thank you for the answer.
I understand it.
However, I have further questions bellow.
Please advise me.
Q1. Are the key data provided HDC LLC in fashion such as .HEX or .BIN
which can be handled with ordinal ROM writer or do you need converting
the key data into .HEX or other ROM data??
Q2. If you need conversion, does who provide such software. Does TI or HDC LLC?
Q3. Beside HDCP Key, DVI requires EDIT data.
Where are the EDIT data stored?
Are the EDIT data programmed into the same ROM as HDCP key data?
Q4. If so, how you can marge the HDCP key data and EDIT data into one ROM?
Q5. If the ROM is programmed with test key (Open key and/or secret key),
can TFP501 receiver data from any source devices or any restricted devices
Mita
Mita-san,
1. I believe the keys are provided in .bin format but I am not positive of this. The format will be defined when purchased.
2. The customer is responsible for programming the keys to the EPROM, TI does not provide a method for this programming.
3. I believe you are referring to the EDID ROM. The EDID ROM is interfaced through the DVI or HDMI connector pins, the EPROM for HDCP in interfaced to the TFP501 through a seperate dedicated interface.
4. The EDID ROM and HDCP ROM are seperate interfaces, they cannot be combined.
5. If test keys are programmed in the TFP501 the HDCP handshake will only work with a transmitter with test keys. Both devices must have either real keys or test keys.
Undrea-san,
Thank you for the answers.
I could clear all questions.
