Team,
Customer has a processor with a single ULPI port. They ideally need 3 USB High speed ports (2 port min). What's the best solution we have?
I was thinking the TUSB1210 followed by the TUSB2046B (I understand the the 2046B is only full speed). Other than that is this the only solution we have? Will the TUSB1210 work with the TUSB2046B at Full speed? Customer is checking to see if they can live with Full speed only.
Johnny,
Does the processor have host support built into it? If not, then none of this will work. If so, then the TUSB1210 will allow it to act as single port host and a hub would be required to allow multiple ports.
The follow-up question is does the host and software driver (both processor dependent) have hub support? There are no limits with respect to hub support with respect to the TUSB1210, but f the host core and/or operating system do not have hub support then the transceiver can not enable this.
From a hub standpoint - IF full-speed is adequate AND only 2 or 3 ports are needed, then the TUSB2036 would be an alternate to the TUSB2046B. If high-speed support is mandatory, then we do not have a near term solution. The TUSB8040, SuperSpeed USB 3.0 hub, will be our first hub with high-speed support, but it will not be sampling until May and in production in 4Q.
