PCA9306 EN/VREF2 pullup resistor

Hi,

Our customer have a question about a pullup resistor[200kΩ] of EN and VREF2 pins.

Is it possible to connect VREF2 pin to power without resistor[200kΩ]?

and set 4.7k~100kΩ resistor  between EN pin and power?

Or shoud be a pullup resistor 200kΩ?

If possible, let me know the equivalent circuit of EN and VREF2 pins.

Best Regards,

Kato

  • Hi,

I am looking forward to your reply.

    You response will be appreciated.

  • Kato-san,

Since EN is referenced to VREF2, it is a best practice to connect them together directly with a pull-up resistor to the high-side voltage supply.

Please design your schematic according to the appropriate application diagrams on Pages 7 & 8 of the datasheet:

If the switch is always enabled, connect them to VPDU. If the switch will be toggled in the application, connect EN and VREF2 to a GPIO at the same voltage as VDPU.

If VREF2 were connected directly to power, and the EN pin were connected through a Pull-up resistor, there could be a short transient period in which EN and VREF2 are not referenced to the same voltage in which the switch would not be enabled.

Please try not to deviate from the suggested schematic.

Can you explain in more detail why the customer wants to do this?
