USB3.0 pen drive not detected on TUSB7340EMU

Hi,

I am using TUSB7340EVM board with fedora 19 machine which have 3.9 kernel.

The kernel is able to detect the USB 2.0 pen drive as shown below logs but the USB3.0 pen drive is not detected by the system (no logs).

I am providing 5v 18A external power supply to PCI card, jumper J40 is populated (PCIE_3p3v and Board_303v short), Jumper J26 is populated, all LEDS D5 and D1 to D4 are on.

Did I miss any setting so that my 3.0 pen drive should detect by this card. the same pen drive is detected in some other platform without this card.

Please help me out from this trouble.

Hello,

Linux kernels below 3.12 have issues with xHCI controllers.

I suggest you to update to the latest kernel available.

I tried kernel version 3.13.6-100 (latest for fedora), but faced same behavior, the USB2.0 is detected but not USB3.0.

I have seen that Linux have support for this card from long time. Do you have any idea on which old kernel it was working properly.

Hello Suresh,

We expected an acceptable XHCI behavior starting by kernel version 3.2, however there are still several issues on this version. The best and safest option to follow is to update to the latest stable one (3.13). Please notice that the XHCI driver for Linux is supported by the Linux community and not by TI.

Hi Diego,

I already tried 3.13 kernel on Ubuntu and fedora but I am not so lucky to make it work.

Do you have any erratum or any Linux patch which help me out.

OR can you please suggest some pointer to debug the issue.

Hello Suresh,

Is the issue using the EVM or their own implementation?. In the case that the customer is using a custom implementation of the Host, please send the schematic for a brief evaluation to diego.cortes@ti.com

Hi Diego,

The issue is with TUSB7340 Evaluation Board itself.

I moved a step ahead.

USB3.0 pen drive is detected on powering on/off the EVM board. but it is not detected when I connect/disconnect USB3.0 pen drive.

Suresh,

Have you tried to reproduce the issue with more than one EVM board and system?. I've never seen this issue on a good board/system. Could you try with a different system, I just wanna make sure that the EVM is completely functional.
