TMDS442 / floating TMDS input

Hi Team,

I'd like to ask a basic question about TMDS442.

I think TMDS input channels(A11/B11 etc..) of TMDS442 are connected to HDMI/DVI connector in many applications.
Is it possible to be floating TMDS input channels? I assume the case that HDMI/DVI connector is unconnected.

It seems unused TMDS input channels are recommended to be biased "by terminating to gnd through a 1k resistor the complementary input of the channel and leaving the other pin floating" in the following thread.

  • Hello Yaita-san,

Yes it is possible to left unconnected some inputs and as you mentioned, this is the case when you have an unconnected connector. On the other hand, the recommendation you pointed applies only when you are not using the TMDS input at all i. e. you have nothing connected to these terminals.

    Best regards,

    Diego.
