XRT117 - 4-20mA analog output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR117

The XRT117 is labelled as a 4-20mA current loop conditioner. I would like to ask can I use it as a 4-20mA analog output?

My application will controlled by a MCU, therefore there will be a PWM signal generated from the MCU. This PWM signal will then convert to a 4-20mA analog output. Can I use the XRT117 for this application?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

I think this should be posted in PA block. and NOT XRT117, it is XTR117.

You mention PWM->4~20mA. You mean using a filter to make the PWM to a DC signal  then go to the XTR117? I think this is OK but you have to care about the MCU's power. no more than 4mA when using 2 wire current loop to supply the MCU's power.
