LMH0340 SMBUS problem with unit erroneously responding to I2C traffic not addressed to it

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0340

Hi,

We have a board where we just tracked down an I2C bus hang due to the LMH0340 on the board. The master is receiving data from an A/D whose 12 bit value in the data stream happens to have the same value as the programmed address in the LMH0340. (0xAE).The LMH0340 has its CS pin tied high and is normally setup at power-up from the master. The remaining bus activity is the reading of the A/D converter. The reason we know the LMH0340 has falsely responded is that we grounded the CS and could not reproduce the problem. (The A/D is being read with a stable value being transmitted on the I2C bus.) If we stop the traffic and pull the CS high and then start the traffic, the bus immediately hangs.

The data and clk signals look fine both DC and AC. Bus speed is 100kHz.

Looking for any errata dissociated with the LMH0340 concerning the SMBUS or any other reported instances of something similar.

THanks,

Mitch
