ISO7240 + SN6501

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6501

Dear Sir

1.When I use ISO7240 to design with SN6501 for RS232/RS485 application

Should I need to use SN6501 + LDO  for ISO7240/F81438 or I could just use SN6501 only for IS7240/F81438

2.What's application I have to use SN6501 + LDO? can't use SN6501 only

Thanks

  • Dear Sir

Have any recommend for this question?

  • Hi Kai,

Sorry for the delay in someone getting back to you. The tradeoff will be output regulation. With the LDO, the output voltage will be better regulated, and without the LDO the output voltage will vary more.

If you look in the datasheet Figure 67 shows the circuit we used to evaluate the device without a LDO, and Figure 68 shows the circuit we used to evaluate the SN6501 with an external LDO.

    Figures 3,5,7,9,11, and 13 show the output voltage verses load current of Figure 67, and Figures 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41 43, 45, 47, 49, 51, and 53 show output voltage verses load current of the circuit in Figure 68.

As you can see the output of the LDO remains almost constant, whereas the voltage input to the LDO varies over load. That is the tradeoff.

    Thanks,

    John
