DP83816 Ethernet transmit or receive DMA errors

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83816

Hi,

We are using DP83816 without the PHY and our application is involves back to back transfer of ethernet frames both in TX and RX directions.

We are observing the following:

On certain systems we find that data seems to get corrupted.

Are there situations where DP83816 would corrupt frames under back to back TX and RX (full duplex) loads?

Regards,

Mahesh

  • Mahesh,

Could you provide some additional details on the configuration and what you are seeing?

What is the partner on the other end during your testing?  Are you transmitting and receiving via two like systems, both using the DP83816?

Presumably you are using an external PHY?

  • Patrick,

We don't use an external phy.  Our card uses the MAC (w/o backoff) to TX/RX from a CPLD on the board to communicate with some devices on board.  The MAC has no external connectivity to a LAN.

We TX and RX in full duplex the maximum size frames (2048).  The CPLD returns few bytes from the TX back to the RX and we see errors on these bytes.

    Thanks,

    Mahesh
