Hi Team,

My customer is having trouble in their USB3.0 data transmission test using USB HDD which is format in exFAT.

They fails transmitting the data file when they transmit the data which file size is over 2GB.

Currently they are investigating the root cause of this problem.

Do you know if there is any problem to the Windows 8 driver ?

Do you have any information of  this symptom ?

We appreciate your prompt response.

Best Regards,
Kawai

  • Hello Kawai,

We don’t have any previous report about this kind of issue, could you please provide us the following information?

The customer are performing a kind of stressing test or they only copy one 2Gb file?

Could you please describe the exact failure (including reproduction steps) that they are getting?

It can be reproduced using our EVM?

It’s only present on Windows8? Its present in both architectures (32-bit and 64-bit)?

It's present on diferent HDDs or it's only related to only one?

    Regards,

    Roberto.

  • Hi Roberto-san,

I apologize for my delay. Thank you for your comment.

    > The customer are performing a kind of stressing test or they only copy one 2Gb file?

--> They are just coping the 2GB data.

    > Could you please describe the exact failure (including reproduction steps) that they are getting?

--> They are just coping the 2GB data to the USB device on Windows8.

    > It can be reproduced using our EVM?

--> They have not checked with the EVM.

    > It’s only present on Windows8? Its present in both architectures (32-bit and 64-bit)?

--> Only checked with Windows8. I currently do not have the information of 32-bit or 64-bit.

    > It's present on different HDDs or it's only related to only one?

--> It seems that they have same result with some of other USB devices.

After our customer evaluation, they found that they have protocol error in the transmission data.

They cannot transfer the data using the 1.5m cable, however, still having some error, they have better result using 1.0m cable. From the result, it seems that our customer may need signal conditioning. I will ask them to try using De-Emphasis function and maybe also controlling voltage swing.

One thing I need to know is that how you can access the PCI register to change De-Emphasis setting.
Is there any GUI or tool which user could access PCI registers from Windows 8 ?

Please also let me ask if there is a GUI or tool to program EEPROM.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

  • Hello Kawai,

We have tested using a 3m cable and it works correctly using our EVM, could you please provide us their schematic in order to take a look?

I’m sending to you by e-mail a tool that can be used to access the PCI registers or the TUSB7320.

     Regards,

    Roberto.

  • Hello Roberto-san,
