DP83848C with M12 D-coded connector

Hello,

I'm using DP83848C for my Ethernet designs. Now a client demands a M12 D-coded type connector. This connector must be soldered to the PCB, so I cannot put RJ-45 connector (and its magnets).

The 33nF serial capacitor can fit this design? The device is connected to a LAN in a train, so we must take in care that there is many radiation.

Is there a reason that a transformer could not be used with the M12 D connector? Although it is common to do so, there is no requirement to use magnetics that are integrated into the RJ-45. Discrete magnetics can be used.

We list the magnetics requirements in our design and layout guide:

The key will be to choose a component that meets these requirements for turns ratio, insertion loss, etc.

Note that the magnetics referred to in your post are 10/100/1000 capable. While it is acceptable to use 10/100/1000 magnetics with the DP83848 as long as they meet the magnetics requirements for the device, it is not necessary to do so. 10/100 magnetics are acceptable.
