DS90UB913Q transmission distance

Expert 1060 points

Hi, ti experts.

There are two questions using DS90UB913Q.

1. I would like to know the normal transmission distance of the LVDS outputs.

2. Demo kit and user guide reference Rosenberger's SMA connector and 100 ohm cable.

But Is it possible to use MMCX connector and 50 ohm cable? is there any limitation?

Please let me know the above questions.

Best Regards.

Jay.

    1)   The transmission distance is determined primarily by the cable and connectors.   With a differential signal (using the LVDS outputs of the DS90UB913), we support approx. 16dB of attenuation at 700MHz.   A better quality cable will exhibit less loss per meter, and so you could use a longer cable.

    2)   Although the DS90UB913Q does not support coax cables, the DS90UB913AQ does support single ended, COAX transmission and could be used with the MMCX connector and 50 ohm cable.   There is less tolerance for loss on the single ended connection, so now the loss limit is about 10dB at 700 MHz.   The DS90UB913AQ EVM is configured to take a 50 ohm, single ended connector such as SMA or FAKRA - I believe that there are also MMCX connectors with a compatible footprint.
