HSD Connector for DS90U925/926

We would like to use a 4-Pin HSD connector to link the DS90U925/926 like the Rosenberger connector on TI Evaluation board. We were not able to find an answser for the following question in the data sheet:

1) Is it recommended to connect unused pins on the Rosenberger connector to ground like on the evaluation board?

2) Is it necessary to implement a common mode choke into the data link lines like on the evaluation board?

Thanks!

  • Hi Roland,

Yes, we recommend to ground unused pins on the HSD connector.

It is not necessary to use a common-mode choke, but you may want to include the pads on your board and initially populate with zero Ohm resistors. Common-mode chokes help reduce radiated emissions, and also strengthen radiated immunity. If the end application is in a noisy environment or in an environment sensitive to noise, the choke may be needed.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Thanks,
    Jason
