1394B chipset lifetimes

Hi,

I am a newbie so not sure if this is the correct place to ask the question, but hopefully somebody can help me.

Basically in the 1394B portfolio I have the choice of standard or Hi-Rel devices of the same type.

Does the Hi-Rel part have any guarantee of future availability over and above that of the standard part?

Thanks

PM

  • Peter,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.  There really should be no difference between the Hi-rel and standard parts as related to lifetime availability.

As a general rule, Texas Instruments will not obsolete products for 'convenience' purposes. However, if for some unforeseen reason, Texas Instruments is no longer able to reliably manufacture this product; we will work closely with all customers on an End-of-Life plan.  Our standard End-of-life policy provides for one (1) year of order entry and an additional six months for deliveries. If we have flexibility on these time frames we will communicate this with our customers to best serve their needs.  The offical policy can be found at: http://focus.ti.com/quality/docs/gencontent.tsp?contentId=5020&navigationId=11224&templateId=5909
