1) Can TUSB9261 and TUSB7320 automatically detect polarity inversion on SS lines? I think these devices can detect the polarity inversion during TSEQ. Is my understanding correct?

2) Is a customer able to customize equalizer settings for TUSB9261?

    Hi Masumi,

    Please see my answers below:

    1) Per USB3.0 spec, every USB compliant device must support SS polarity inversion. Therefore the TUSB9261 and TUSB7340 support SS polarity inversion, the detection is done automatically (and in fact this is done on the TSEQ training sequence per USB spec).

    2) The TUSB9261 is a USB3.0 to SATA bridge, there is no such equalizing settings that can be modified on the TUSB9261. Could you please specify what is exactly what you refer by 'equalizing settings'?

    Thank you for your response.

    1) Please let me confirm more about SS polarity inversion. Our customer is asking whether USB_SSTX and USB_SSRX support SS polarity inversion.

    When USB_SSRX detects the polarity inversion, Rxp and Rxn are swapped. But Txp and Txn are not swapped because its peer node receiver must support the polarity inversion. Is it correct?

    2) Your answer is exactly what I referred. Thank you. Our customer found that they can customize the equalizing setting on TUSB7320 by storing their own equalizing setting into an external EEPROM. So I think they wanted to ask whether they can do it on TUSB9261.

    Hi Masumi,

    Correct, the polarity detection is done only on the RX lines. This is why every USB3.0 Device or Host is responsible to perform this detection on its RX lines (this is done during the TSEQ training sequence).
