JTAG for USB chip

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1310A, TUSB1310

Hi I'm using a TUSB1310A chip and I was trying to find the right JTAG connector for this.

1) Is there a specific JTAG pinout I need to use, or is any ok as long as it has the TDI,TDO,TCK,TMS,TRST signals that are required for the TUSB1310A.  For example, some pinouts say they are specifically for ARM processors or MIPS processors.  Does it matter if I use one for an ARM processor?

2) How do I interface the JTAG for the TUSB1310 with the computer? I can get a USB-JTAG cable for the pinout I choose from #1, but then what software is there to actually interface with the USB chip?

Thanks for your help.

  • Hello,

The JTAG interface of the TUSB1310A is compliant with the  IEEE1149.1 and IEEE1149.6 boundary scan.

What you need to look for is a software for boundary scan, the pinout of the connector should be also standard for IEEE1149.1.

There should be plenty of boundary scan software on the web.

    Regards.
