ISO3080 as 2nd source for ADM2491

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO3080

I would like to use the ISo3080 as an alternative for the ADM3080.

The apear to be almost the same function,

The main functional important difference I see is pin 7 and pin 10 on the ISO3080 are also gnd and for the ADM2491 those are NC but must be left floating.

For the TI part pin 7 and 8 are labeled GND1 as are pin 9 and pin10 for GND2

Now the main point is Must pin 7 and pin 10 be used for gnd or could these two pins be  floating because they are already internally connected and only pin 8 and pin 9 connected is also good.

The gnd pins at 2 and 11 are the same for both parts.

Thaks,

Bert

  • Bert,

I did check back  with our design team. While pin 7 can be left floating, pin 10 should be grounded. This is because the design of the more powerful RS-485 bus output stage is different to the low-power design structure of the isolator's control side.

    Best regards,

    Thomas
