TLK106L Fast Link Down Modes

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK106L, DP83640

Dear Sir

I have some question about TLK106L

1.Fast Link Down Modes :

What's this feature benefit ? Is it mean if I meet some problem just like signal or energy loss ,TLK106L could Drop link from 100Mbps to 10Mbps within 10uS?

2.IEEE1588 SFD :

SFD seems like need to work with processor or controller ,Is it mean If this controller doesn't support IEEE1588 function

I need to change to use DP83640 than I will have IEEE1588 function?

How about the Sync timing of TLK106L? I refer to DP83640 can be under 10ns

Thanks

  • Yes, the fast link down modes allow dropping the link more quickly based on loss of signal.  This functionality is useful in certain industrial protocols like EtherCAT.

You are also correct that a processor or controller would be required to timestamp the SFD from the TLK106L.  If higher precision is required, this can be achieved using the DP83640.
