Hello,

One of my customers is using Motorola MPC 885 and is interfacing it with our QUAD UART TL16C754BPN. They are using MPC885 in Motorola 2:1 bus mode. Their question is that, will this UART work with this mode? ( since they read in some docs that this UART works with INTEL Mode only). Please let me know.

Mudassar,

The TL16C family if UARTs from TI only support Intel mode as indicated in the data sheet and in the parametric table at ti.com. The only UART in the family that supports the Motrorola 68K style interface is our dual UART - TL28L92.

The TL16C754x device does not support the Motorola 68xxx mode. Only the TI TL28L92 UART supports the 68xxx mode.

It appears that this question came up again. Following is the original response from Dan Harmon. The only UART we have that supports the Motorola mode is the 28L92.
