MUX SGMII WITH DS125MB203

Hello,

We need multiplex two lanes of SGMII interface to one lane of SGMII.

One lane is compost for one TX and one RX differential pairs.

The DS125MB203 is compatible with XAUI interface, but on datasheet didn´t indicated use for SGMII.

Can I use the "DS125MB203" with SGMII interface?

Can I configure the device without I2C bus?

    Hi Davi,

    I took a look through our family of mux/buffers and unfortunately we do not have one that specifically has been validated for compliance with SGMII. However, after looking at the electrical specifications, I have found that as long as the input and output for the mux buffer are LVDS compliant, you should be able to use it:

    The DS125MB203 was mainly intended for SAS/SATA, PCIe, and 10 GbE designs, and since SGMII is in the 10/100/1000 Mbps range, I would suggest using the DS15MB200. Not only is this device suited more towards the data rates you are working with, but it also comes with an LVDS Rx and Tx (DS125MB203 uses CML signaling).

    Settings for the DS15MB200 are controllable by input pin control voltage, so I2C bus is not necessary.

    We also survey SGMII Mux.

    Request:

    1.   For SGMII MUX 1to2 2channels.

    2.   Meet SGMII spec

    3.   Using on  MARVELL 88E1543 SGMII interface switch.

    Does DS125MB203 still are suitable solution??

    Hi,

    Yes the DS125MB203 is a good solution.  It does require AC coupling on the inputs and outputs which is within the normal SGMII standard.

    Another device which can be DC coupled to LVDS inputs and outputs is the DS15MB200.

    Because we don't use Pre-emp.

    So we found DS08MB200.

    Does DS08MB200 still a suitable solution for us??

    Sorry for the delay. Lee is out of the office this week.

    Since SGMII operates at 625 MHz, this is within the max rate supported by the DS08MB200. The DS08MB200 should be a suitable solution.
