The DS30BA101/DS30EA101 are used to extend cable length between FPD-Link II devices or FPD-Link III devices.

Please tell me the DS30BA101/DS30EA101 cable extension performance. How Far and Fast?

For an up to serial line rate of 3.125 Gbps, the DS25BR120/DS25BR110 can also be used.

Which performance of the DS30BA101/DS30EA101 and the DS25BR120/DS25BR110 is better?

Maeda-San,

DS30EA101 and DS25BR devices are optimized for different types of equalization: DS30 is optimized for equalizing cable while DS25 is optimized for equalizing PCB trace length. For these two medias, the Loss over frequency characteristics are different. Please note in AC Characteristics of the data sheet the cable reach for DS30 is mentioned. In DS25BR120 data sheet we specify the channel media in Test Channel Loss Characteristics paragraph.

I understand that DS30 can reach far than DS25.

For DS25BR120/DS25BR110, the datasheets describe the cable length vs the maximum data rate in Typical Performance section. Also there is other information. For example:

I do apologize since we do not have the same app notes for DS30EA101 when compared with DS25BR100 device. The only data we have is in the data sheet. DS30EA101 is actually a higher gain cable equalizer than DS15EA101 and should perform better.

DS30EA101 supply voltage is 2.5V, not 3.3V. If our customer expects the 3.3V supply, DS25BR120/DS25BR110 may be used.

They want to connect DS90UB925Q and DS90UB928Q via cable which is longer than 40m. Is using DS25BR120/DS25BR110 effective?

Maeda-San,

DS90UB925 and DS90UB928 are automotive ser/des. I suggest if you could please post a question on E2E regarding these two devices so our automotive group can comment. In these application normally they use certain cable quality and ratings. They maybe better able to comment on the cable type.

I suggested using DS30BA101/EA101 between DS90UB925Q/928Q to our customer.

If our customer needs using the 3.3V supply, I will post a question whether using DS25BR120/DS25BR110 between DS90UB925Q/928Q is effective.
