Hi,

I'm beginner about Ether PHY and I have a question about TLK105L.

When starting communication with Link partner, the link will be loss and
sometimes it never linked again.

So, I want to check the eye-pattern of TLK105L.
But I don't know how to get the eye-pattern from TLK105L.
Is there any test mode and test pattern to get the eye-pattern?

best regards,
g.f.

  • Hi,

I assume you want to measure the output signaling in 100Base-T mode.  Is that correct?

In 100Base-T mode, the device will output scrambled idles by default.  These can be used to evaluate the eye pattern.

100Base-T mode can be configured by writing 0x2100 to the BMCR (register address 0x00) and writing 0x0 to PHYCR (register address 0x19) bit 15 to disable Auto-MDIX.  Alternately, these values can be configured using resistor straps prior to a power up or a reset.

  • Hi,

Thank you for the reply and the details.

    I understood.
I will try using scramled idles.
