Hi,

In this HVL048 user guide, the schematic reflect TCA6424 and TCA6416, but the actual device populated in the EVM is TCA6424 and TCA9539. Can I have an updated schematic with this part? I want to know the connection like A0 and A1 for example.

Please order free TCA6416A samples and solder the device down in place of the TCA9539.

The pin count is identical and the ADDR pin for the TCA6416A and slave address difference is handled automatically by the MSP430 in the firmware when you select the TCA6416A in the GUI.

I want to use TCA9539 instead of TCA6416. Can you tell me the slave address for this part?

The slave address of the TCA9539 is '1 1 1 0 1 A1 A0 R/W', which is on pages 7 and 8 of the datasheet.

On the EVM, A1 is HI (tied directly to VCC) and A0 is LO (held low by the MSP430 against the pull-up resistor).

As a result, the slave address is configured as '1 1 1 0 1 1 0 R/W', which is 0x76 in 7-bit hex notation, or 0xEC (Write), 0xED (Read) in 8-bit hex notation.

After you manually de-solder the TCA6416A and solder down the TCA9539, when you select TCA9539 in the GUI, the firmware will automatically handle the slave addressing for you.
