DS90UB913A GPIO

Hi team,

there is an GPO[3] pin on DS90UB913A, which can be configured either as input or output according to data sheet. DS also shows the data lines bidirectional in the block diagram Figure 25.

Therefore I am wondering if GPO[3] can be used as general purpose input pin instead of CLKIN input pin.

Regards,

Alex

  • Hey Alex,

You can configured GPO[3] as an input.  I do want to point out the difference between CLKIN and PCLK.  The CLKIN and CLKOUT are used for external oscillator mode.  This mode increases tolerance to jitter but you will not be able to use GPIO[2] or GPIO[3] as inputs/outputs.  The device can also operate in PCLK mode without an external oscillator allowing access to GPIO[2] and GPIO[3].  See pages 41 and 42 of the datasheet for more information on the two modes.  PCLK is the is the clock aligned to the camera's data, it needs to be connected to the serializer in either external oscillator or pclk mode.

    Regards,

  • Hi team,
I would like to ask the applications team to take a look into the topic. Magna wants to use GPO[3] as DS90UB913 as input!!!  to transmit data to DS90UB914 at pin GPIO[3] configured as output. Please confirm if this is working.

    Regards,

    Alex

GPO3 on the DS90UB913 is always an output, except when the device is in external oscillator mode, in which case it is used as the input for the external clock.
