Can we leave the Vdd connection floating on the TPD3E001?

We are using the TPD3E001 for ESD protection of USB signal pairs.

Now we want to use the part for ESD protection of Gigabit Ethernet pairs.

However the ethernet circuit is a passive PoE injector with only 12 V available as VCC.

Do we need to connect to VCC or can we leave it floating?

I have made a sketch based on the logic block diagram from p. 2 of the datasheet.

Kasper,

Applying voltage to the V_CC pin is not a requirement (so it can be floating), but use of the 0.1 uF bypass capacitor on V_CC is. Note that the Absolute Max voltage rating for V_CC is 7V anyways. Also note that the maximum voltage range that can be applied to IO1 or IO2 is 0V to 11V.
