SN65LVCP114 cascading

Hello,

In order to extend the amount of switch options of my transceiver interfaces I would like to place two SN65LVCP114 back-to-back. The channel between the two switches will be very short < 1 inch. If I understand correctly there is a risk of over-equalizing. Is it recommended to add some ISI? Besides increasing the length of the channel, are there other feasible, and controlable options to do this?

Could you be more specific on why you need two SN65LVCP114 back to back? I can't clearly understand the application, so a detailed description will help me to suggest you a solution, perhaps a block diagram would be useful.

Hello,

I want to place them back to back to have a 1-to-3/3-to-1 switching solution. ie connecting a transceiver to port C of device 1, which can be switched to A or B. Transceiver port A of device 1 connects to port C of device 2 which then can also be switched to port A or B.

Hello Klink,

Thanks to clarify that. As you mentioned it is possible to have over equalization over the trace between both SN65LVCP114. Using the lowest EQ settings you may be able to compensate 3dB, so the first recommendation is to have a channel with a loss within this level. Let me search for the performance matrix of the SN65LVCP114 and estimate whether it is possible or not to have such a short channel.
