TLK 1501 radiation tolerance respect TLK 2501

Hello,

here at CERN we are designing the readout electronic for the ALICE experiment, and we are looking for a serdes which characteristics matches near exactly the TLK 1501 ones. The point is we have to install it in a moderately radiation-harsh environment (the underground experiment cavern), where both TID and SEU are expected to affect the electronics.

Here at CERN we did already qualify the TLK 2501 for radiation hardness, and found it is reliable for the radiation dose and type we expect. Unfortunately for that very specific application the TLK 2501 is "too fast", as our lines will be at 1.2 Gb/s, and hence we did look at the slower TLK 1501. My question is therefore whether the TLK 1501 is manufactured with the same process of the TLK 2501, which would hint that it will likely exhibit the same level of radiation tolerance. While we will go anyway through all the steps necessary to evaluate the TLK 1501 radiation tolerance, it would be helpful to know in advance if it is likely to succeed, in which case we could already consider to use it in the prototyping phase.

Any suggestion about any similar specs component which is already known to be radiation tolerant is very welcome!

Thanks for your attention and best regards,

Piero Giubilato
