USB3 repeater (SN65LVPE512) EVM user manual and board schematics

Hello,

I came across SN65LVPE502 EVM, which also has a board schematics.

1. I will be using SN65LVPE512 in my application. Can I use the 502 board schematic as a reference to my design?

There is something I`m not so sure about at the 502`s board schematics, it seems that the polarity of the Tx and Rx pairs is inversed twice. For example:

USB3_TX_P (pin at the connector side) ---> RX1_N (pin at the 502 device)

TX1_N (pin at the 502 device) ----> USB3_RX_P (pin at the connector side)

Same thing about the other pair.

My question is, why is it in reverse polarity?

When using the SN65LVPE512, do I need to inverse the polarity as well?

Will my application work correctly if I will not inverse the polarity?

Hi Gil

LVPE502 is p2p with LVPE512, there's no inverting polarity as you can see in attached image, so, you can useyour reference schematic of the 502 for the 512 with no need of inverting polarity.

Thank you for your quick reply.

What I meant was, that there is a polarity invertion on the board which I don`t understand. Notice that the Tx_n is connected to the Rx_p pin, and so on.

Can you sattle this issue for me?

Polarity is swappd on the EVM in order to route the high-speed signals directly to the connector, this is acceptable as long as the polarity swap is consistant on both sides of the re-driver.
