SN65LVCP404

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVCP404

The 1A/1B, 2A/2B inputs of the SN65LVCP404 are CML compliant inputs. My question is, does the SN65LVCP404 require decoupling caps between the driving chip and the inputs on the SN65LVCP404? The driving chip is outputting CML compliant levels. The datasheet does not specify this. Please let me know if I am ok not using decoupling capacitors.

Thank you,

  • OK... Looking further at the datasheet is looks like the inputs can be either AC coupled or DC coupled. In the case of AC coupling the voltage VBB is left floating. In the case of DC coupling, what voltage should VBB be set to? Would it be the supply voltage being used by the chips in this design (in this case 3.3V) or should it be something else?
