DS80PCI102 / DS125BR111 initialisation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125BR111, DS80PCI102

Hello team,

Is it possible to initialize the repeater devices to a fix data rate of 2,5 GT/s (Gen 1)?

 DS80PCI102 or DS125BR111

regards,

kamal

  • Hi Kamal,

What do you mean by "initialize the repeater devices to a fixed data rate"?

The repeaters sit in the middle of a datapath channel and output the same data rate that they receive. There is no way to "force" the repeater to output a fixed data rate.

The DS80PCI102 has specific register bits that determine whether the incoming data rate is 2.5 Gbps, 5.0 Gbps, or 8.0 Gbps. If the perceived data rate is 5.0 Gbps or less, the device will operate in limiting mode, where the VOD level of the output is fixed. If the perceived data rate is 8 Gbps, the device will operate in non-limiting mode, where the VOD level is more dependent on the incoming VID levels.

The DS125BR111 is our new "super-linear" device and does not having a limiting mode for its driver. This means that, no matter what the incoming data rate is, the repeater will always track the input signal linearly.

    Thanks,

    Michael
