Hi,
We want to develop an encrypted mass storage device with an USB 3.0 interface. This device should be also compatible with USB 2.0.
The chip TUSB1310A seems to fit to this constraint. We want to associate it to a low power fpga, an ALTERA Cyclone V.
In the data manual of the USB 3.0 Transceiver TUSB1310A (chapter 6.4), I calculate that the total power consumption is 434mW.
And we have another constraint, the mass storage device will be supplied with just the USB cable.
During enumeration, the power budget of USB 2.0 is 500mW. So the chip consumes nearly all the available power. The fpga will not have enough power to start correctly.
Is there a solution to reduce the consumption of the TUSB1310A in order to manage to start without an external power supply?
Regards,
Stephane
