DS80PCI800 for PCIe Gen3 Random Jitter's issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS80PCI800

Dear Sir

My system PCIe slot use Sigtest to verify SI without DS80PCI800 repeater ,The test report is fail ,due to the random jitter is fail

Could I use DS80PCI800 to solve random jitter this issue directly or I need to modify the PCB layout?

  • Hi Kai,

The repeater is inherently designed to improve performance by minimizing deterministic jitter. It does not act to minimize random jitter. The ability to resolve random jitter would require some type of CDR circuit that would regenerate the signal with a clean clock.

It is hard to say what is causing the issue based on only this test report print-out, but my guess is that there are some non-idealities in the layout that are causing a violation of the Random Jitter spec. The DS80PCI800 will not reduce this random jitter figure.
