Biasing the SN65LVDS049

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDS049

Hey all,

I'm looking at using the SN65LVDS049 and saw that it has internal failsafe biasing. Are bias resistors needed at all? If so, what are the ideal bias resistors typically used for operation?

Thanks,

Evan

  • Hi Evan,

No, you would not need any external biasing resistors to implement a failsafe function, since this is already taken care of internally. You would need a 100-Ohm differential termination across the receiver inputs, though, in order to make sure the load impedance matches the characteristic impedance of the transmission line (so that there are no reflections to degrade the signal integrity).

Which customer is interested in LVDS049, and for what application?

    Thank you,
    Max
