RESET – VCCP connection?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA6424

Hello,

Can we tie TCA6424 reset pins to power pins? And can we disconnect INT pin?

  • Hello,

We recommend a pull up on the reset line in the typical application so that your master controller (MCU typically) can pull the line low and reset it if needed. Assuming you do not need the ability to reset it on demand without a full power cycle, you can tie RESET to a power rail.

    1) If VCCP and VCCI are equivalent, you can bridge RESET to VCCP without any issues.

    2) If VCCI is 1.8 and VCCP is 3.3, you should still be OK pulling RESET directly to VCCP.

As for your INT pin, you may leave it unconnected. The only possible issue is that you will need to constantly poll to check for any interrupt conditions (inputs changing, etc)
