Other than the package and pinout are there any software differences between the DP83848J vs DP83848C ?

    The package and pinout are the primary differences, but these differences do have an impact on applications.  The DP83848J does not support SNI (10 Mb Serial Network Interface), JTAG, or an external interrupt pin.  For many applications, these differences will not affect software.  However, if the Ethernet driver is written to operate with an interrupt, the driver would not be suitable for use with the DP83848J.
