SN75DP130 DS vs SS

We have a design intended for the SN75DP130DS.

We built with the SN75DP130SS.  OOPS.

We would like to re-work the boards to keep the SS part.  The re-work requires pins 15, 21, 37, and 43 to be connected to VCC.  They are marked as NC or GND in the datasheet.  Will it affect operation in any way to tie these pins to VCC?

Also, is there and reason that writing to the DPCD registers will not work directly out of reset?  It seems that we have to wait roughly ~10s after reset before changes to the DPCD registers can be made.  The part is still responsive via I2C, but large delays have to be inserted.
