TLK2711 Unbalanced Vdd

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK2711-SP

Hello,

Can you please provide the schematic of the TLK2711-SP receiver input and transmitter output structures?

What are the input reactances (at various frequencies)  and resistances from its hi-side to chassis ground, from its low-side to chassis ground, and from hi to low when the chip is on and off?

I want enough info to determine how closely should the supply voltages (~2.5 V) of the transmitter and the receiver match? Any ideas?

Thanks

-Ali

  • Hi Ali,

The schematic for receiver and transmitter that we have available is published in datasheet of the device: Figure 13 and Figure 14.

Regarding to the reactance values we do not have any data available.

I/O has a characteristic impedance of 50 Ohms.

Related to the lenght between receiver and transmitter and power supply, we do not have an available analysis distance vs performance of this parameter, altough the lenght of the EVM could be supposed as guideline for this parameter.

I hope this helps, if not, please let me know and I will try to investigate a better answer for you.

    Best Regards!

  • Thanks a lot for your response Luis.

Let me explain what I need with an example: we know that if a 5V RS422 driver interfaces with a 3.3V RS422 receiver (i.e., using unbalanced Vdd's), it will cause small amount of chassis ground (unwanted) current between the two grounds. Basically, some of the current, instead of remaining in the two wires between the driver and receiver, will travel in the ground between the two interface.

I think TLK2711-SP datasheet suggests a Vdd range for a particular output data rate (I think 2.3V to 2.7V ??). Have you done an analysis or can you provide me the internal TLK2711 receiver and transmitter schematics (to enable me to run the analysis) to determine how closely the supply voltages for the TLK2711 transmitter and receiver should match?

    Thanks
