TUSB3410 Virtual Com Port

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB3410

I'm working on a design using a TUSB3410.  I've got a few questions from the developers.

"I would like to find out how their virtual COM port PC driver works, and how it is managed by Windows, and how often it is updated – and whether or not Windows updates it automatically when they release a new version."

Can you help clarify?  Thanks.

  • Hello Mike,

The TUSB3410 Diver manage all the USB communication between the PC and the TUSB3410 also is the responsible to create the Virtual COM instance. Additionally our default driver is capable to load the firmware to the device RAM through USB (for more details about it please take a look to the data manual at section 4.1.2) Our default firmware is the responsible to manage the serial communication between the PC and the device.

The driver is not included in the Windows update and also it's not updated so often (it has not changed in the last two years), the driver is very stable and the changes that has been made on the last couple of years has been to fix some explicit behaviors for specific scenarios.

Please let me know if you have any comments.

    Regards,

    Roberto.
