The latest TUSB9261 datasheet Rev G (Oct 2014) eliminates the supported reference clock frequencies of 20, 25, and 30MHz. Apparently only 40MHz is now supported.

Why did this change? Will there be issues if the other reference frequencies are used? Does this impact both USB 2.0 and 3.0?

I am using a 25MHz oscillator and I cannot simply replace it with a 40MHz oscillator because other devices on the board are referencing from it as well.

Hi Tony,

We have found some unexpected behavior using different crystal than 40MHz, that’s the reason of why the DS recommendations has changed to only 40 MHz.
We can not guarantee stability if using different crystal.

Hi JC,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I will now need a more detailed response as to what "unexpected behavior" can be expected if the reference isn't 40MHz.
