USB 3.0 and HDMI 1.4 cable extender

Hello,

I am wondering if TI has any channel equalizer that could help extned the length of a USB or HDMI cables, but don't have to be one single chip/solution. The requirement is to extend the cable to 4 meters.

Try looking at the ds16EV5110 at www.ti.com/.../description to see if that might meet your needs. I've also moved this thread to another forum where there may be more HDMI experts.....

Hi Mudhafar,

We have a redriver for HDMI 1.3a, please take a look at TMDS141 to see if it fills your needs.

Updating

A couple devices will be released soon for 1.4b and 2.0.

TMDS171 supports 1.4b

TMDS181 supports 1.4b and 2.0

Hi Mudhafar,

For USB 3.0 you can use SN65LVPE512, TUSB501 or TUSB551.
However, 3 meters cable is the recommended length.

Hi Mudhafar,

We cannot perform such tests in our lab.
For circuit characterization we have passing tests with:
36"(FR4) + 3m cable + SN65LVPE512 + 56"(FR4)
48"(FR4) + 3m cable + SN65LVPE512 + 12"(FR4)
Having smaller PCB traces would allow you to have a 4m cable.
