Questions about the SN65HVD01 part:
1. Can it be used as a standard RS-422 transceiver?
2. Do you have a full-duplex version of it?
3. If ans of #2 is no, do you recommend someone to use two SN65HVD01 parts to form a full-duplex channel?
4. Can this part be run at 500kbps?
(The 1.8V I/O logic is needed to interface with the Xilinx V7 part. However, please also recommend other good full-duplex RS-422 transceivers, and the I/O can be level translating from1.8V I/O to other voltages. Thanks)
Hi Kin,
first of, welcome to the e2e forum, I hope it will help you and you will find good answers here.

Kin Chan said:1. Can it be used as a standard RS-422 transceiver?
Yes, the SN65HVD01 can be used as a RS-422 transceiver.
Kin Chan said:2. Do you have a full-duplex version of it?
No, unfortunatly TI offers that part only as half-duplex chip.
Kin Chan said:3. If ans of #2 is no, do you recommend someone to use two SN65HVD01 parts to form a full-duplex channel?
You can use two SN65HVD01's. I will try to find an alternative, but the 1.8V levels are quite limiting.
Kin Chan said:4. Can this part be run at 500kbps?
The SN65HVD01 can run at 500kbps. To do so, the SLR pin must be tied to GND.

I will look up an alternative for you tomorrow.

Unfortunatly, there is no integrated chip that offers the RS-485/422 full duplex capability and 1.8V input/output levels. Most 3.3V RS-485/422 transceivers have a logical input level threshold of 2V, so it is close, but still not possible.
If you want a TI solution for your application, there are two ways:
Thats all i can suggest right now.
