I am using the DS30BA101 by itself. I found no difference in performance when using the matching equalizer IC. I am running a 1 GB/S application. Can I increase the can by lowering the value of the gain resistor more? What is the limit? Also, what does the minimum input of 50 mv refer to? Isn't this a linear device?

  • Hi Howard,

I apologize for a long delay on this response.

DS30BA101 driver can work with DS30EA101 or DS15EA101(at 1 Gbps).

Please note figure 3 of the DS15EA101 data sheet. We need to use 100 Ohm terminating Resistor.

With respect to 50mV minimum input, could you please clarify? I did not see this in DS30EA101 or DS30BA101 data sheets.

  • I tested the DS15BA101 with both equalizers, and directly driving the ECP3 device. It worked best without the equalizers. If you look on the DS15BA101 data sheet, the DC electrical characteristics, Vid is 100 mv p-p  min

    Howard.
