Hi Karl,

I would love to evaluate the TPS65982 for a potential product. The current status of this is preview. Any idea what's the timeline for production?

Scott,

The TPS65982 officially RTM'd yesterday, June 30th, according to our internal records.

The website is still showing PREVIEW, but I assure you we will update the status to ACTIVE by the end of this week and I will follow-up on this thread when I see it updated.

Dear Sir,
Please help me to clarify and suggestion, is TPS65982 for USB PD2.0 detection and provide info to MCU for charger current control?

Please migrate your questions to New Threads on the new USB Type-C and PD forum so that we can track separate topics and reply to them individually.

The TPS65982 is a USB Type-C 1.1 & USB PD 1.1 (latest spec revision) compliant USB PD Controller and Power Switch.

The MCU can read the PDO (Power Delivery Object) negotiated by the TPS65982.

A battery charger with a wide input voltage range will automatically regulate the voltage and current to charge the battery, and the FW installed on the SPI Flash attached to the TPS65982 will contain application-specific sink capabilities.

However, the MCU could theoretically use the information from the Host Interface of the TPS65982 via I2C and control other ICs on the board.
